About the museum

During and after the war, a "terrible sadness" was reflected in artistic expression, marked by frozen images and sombre colours, and there was a shift towards photography and film, which were more effective in depicting the fighting. Dadaism, abstract art, surrealism and new objectivity were some of the artistic currents that characterised the painters of the time.
