The Parliament Hall, in which you can admire the pinacoteca collection, was realized in the 16th century when the castle's Southern aisle was renovated.

It seems that this hall was destined to host receptions and meetings. It was accessible through the splendid staircase dominating the inner courtyard's west aisle.

Nowadays, in this large hall, you can see the exhibition of some works of the quadreria (collection of paintings) that Giovan Battista Finocchiaro, who was the first president of the Great Court of Justice of the Reign of Sicily in 1800, bequeated by testament to the city of Catania in 1826 for the entire community to enjoy.

Works by the most famous Sicilian painters of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, together with paintings of religious themes, are part of the pinacoteca's collection.

This patrimony, inherited by the Catanese, is exhibited in alternating periods in the pinacoteca since the civic museum was founded in 1934.
