The residents of Kampong Ayer are known to have had a community that was incredibly tight knit. Due to the houses being close to each other, people were more likely to help each other out. Their friendly and helpful personalities have made Kampong Ayer a settlement that was heavily reliant on each other. Big events such as weddings, leaving for hajj pilgrimage, birth and death were not just a family affair but a community one.
It's no surprise that because of this tight relationship, the people of Kampong Ayer used to have community-based social gatherings that were sometimes accompanied by traditional music and games.
