When the Ohio General Assembly decided to build a new state capital in a central location in 1812, the city was planned from scratch and named after the explorer Christopher Columbus. It became the state's official capital in 1816.
My name is Robert Druse, and I'm your guide for this tour of the city I've driven through and visited for decades. A lot of people see Columbus as just a big college town, but trust me, it's so much more than that. It's a city with grit, history, and a really unique personality.
