Hello everyone and welcome to the Louvre, one of the largest museums in the world !
We are here at the main entrance to the museum, under the large glass pyramid THAT IS more than 20 m high, inaugurated in March 1989.
The access to the 3 main departments is via the wings: Richelieu for the large department of Oriental Antiquities, Sully for Egyptian antiquities which we will visit today, and Denon for Greek and Roman antiquities.
It would take years to visit the entire museum which opened the year of the deaths of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution more than 200 years ago.
Consider this: The Louvre is one of the biggest museums in the world and The Bible is part of mankind's cultural heritage. Discovering both of these aspects is a fascinating undertaking, but one that rapidly appears to be strewn with difficulties. What should you see? What is the best approach to take?
The concern is however to avoid imposing religious beliefs or opinions but rather to present the facts which bear witness to the truth of the Book par excellence.
A visit to the Louvre with the Bible is an original and unique journey in ancient history. The Bible has proven to be an original prism and an appropriate guidebook to decrypt the History of antiquity.
But it is also a personal invitation to question the veracity of the text. The Word of God or of men? (1Thessalonians 2:13). So do not hesitate to follow the references of the cited scriptures in your personal Bible version (A reference first indicates the book of the Bible, then a chapter, finally one or more verses).
Enjoy your visit!
We will meet after the ticket turnstile.
