Audio tour Geelong Bollard Trail

The Geelong Bollard trail was constructed in the late 1990s by artist Jan Mitchell as a means of salvaging a dismantled local pier. Ever since their installation along the Geelong Waterfront, from Limeburners Point, all the way around to Rippleside Park, these bollards have been a main attraction for Geelong. They are each representations of various eras and individual people which have helped to make a contribution to the Geelong we see today, some even representing a time before white settlement in the region. While this tour explores only 9 of the sites along the trail, in total, the walk consists of 48 sites and over 100 individual bollards, and you will be able to see all of the sites as you walk. The aim of this tour is not so much a focus on the bollards themselves, rather to be a portal for further exploration of the story of Geelong. The nine sites which will be featured in this tour will take you from start to finish and include; the Limeburner, Matthew Flinders, the Koorie Family, Robert de Bruce Johnstone, Ian McDonald, an early Geelong Footballer, the Volunteer Rifle Band, James Harrison and the Nuns.
