Welcome to Mariemont and to the exhibition The Mystery of Mithras. Exploring the heart of a Roman cult (20 November 2021 - 17 April 2022).
You are in the hall of the Museum. Three objects already tell you about Mithras.
- A Lego model of a temple of Mithras (also called a mithraeum)
- A Roman soldier, adept of Mithras, rank of the Lion
- A two-sided relief showing THE scene of the myth of Mithras: the sacrifice of the bull (this scene is also called taurochtony). On the back, discover a banquet scene.
Take a good look at these objects, go up to the second floor, visit the exhibition and come back to look at these objects.

Een prachtige tentoonstelling, verhalend goed gepresenteerd over een onderwerp dat aangrijpt voor geïnteresseerden in geschiedenis van het Romeinse rijk.

Zeer mooie tentoonstelling. Perfect technisch omkaderd, zowel met informatie op de muren, via de smartphone met WiFi en de mogelijkheid om een gegidste tour te boeken. Andere musea kunnen hieraan een voorbeeld nemen! Het mooie park rondom on deze lentetijd is een extra troef voor dit mooie museum.

Très belle exposition, on aimerait que le mithraïsme puisse encore exister. Une société où tout le monde est admis. Initiation, fraternité et banquets rituels.
