The Geological Museum was established in 1937 based on the collection of Prof. Hovhannes Karapetyan, Doctor of Geological Sciences and Honored Scientist of Armenia. This collection, assembled by him since of 1944 acts during 40 years of professional activity, consisted of 1410 samples. Now, the Museum has more than 11000 exhibits.
The Museum has the following departments: Mineralogy, Paleontology, Petrography, Natural Resources, Mineral Waters in Armenia, Natural Monuments of Armenia.

A very interesting museum and outstanding exhibits! We saw the minerals of Armenia, the fossilized elephant's skeleton, the skull, got acquainted with the local natural resources. Thank you!

I have been to Armenia for my winter holidays! Discover this country for the first time. Amazing people. I have heard about the Armenian hospitality, cuisine. Really interesting. My friends advised me to visit Geological museum. It was so nice to see such astonishing exhibits, to know about minerals of Armenia, geological monuments, and of course, the elephant sceleton. Thanks a lot.

Прекрасный музей! Интересен и геологией и палеонтологией. Особенно поразило то, что большая часть экспонатов найдены в Армении. И аудио- гиды приложения очень помогли☺️
