Zutphen is a corruption of Sutfene which means something like Zuidveen. It is a swampy area to the south of the current city center of Zutphen. Zutphen was one of the four capitals in the area of the Duke of Gelre.
Our walk starts here at the station. When you have your back to the station, turn left and follow Stationsplein to the powder tower.
