Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden

The Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden is part of Bishop Museum. The mission of Bishop Museum is “to be a gathering place and educational center that actively engages people in the presentation, exploration and preservation of Hawaii’s cultural heritage and natural history, as well as its ancestral cultures throughout the Pacific.” The Garden itself is a 12-acre parcel in Kona on Hawai‘i Island that contains over 200 native plant species, many of which are rare and endangered, set among the archaeological features of traditional Hawaiian agricultural activity. The Garden’s mission is “to support Hawaiian cultural traditions of land use and plants and conserve the plant resources of traditional Hawaiian cultural activities.”
