There are two types of hydraulic machines: pumps, which "set in motion" a fluid by exploiting mechanical energy, deriving for example from electricity, and turbines which, on the contrary, exploit the kinetic energy of a fluid to produce mechanical energy.

In the first case we speak of operating machines, in the second of driving machines. In this section you will see examples belonging to this second type, i.e. hydraulic turbines, used for the production of electricity by exploiting watercourses.
