Built in the mid 1960’s to political order, this was from 1965 to 1989, the private residence of Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu and their children, Nicu, Zoia, and Valentin. The palace was first built during Ceaușescu’s rise to power, and was extended between 1970-1972.
The preffered arhitect for the design of the Ceaușescu family’s residence was Aron Grimberg-Solari. The architecture of the palace is complemented by landscaping conceived by the architect Robert Woll.
