The neighborhood took its name from Gioacchino Murat (1767-1815), marshal of Napoleon Bonaparte, who commissioned the work and inaugurated its construction.
Today this neighborhood preserves many architectural masterpieces from the early 20th century that can still be admired while walking through the streets of Bari.
