A long time ago, in Dordrecht...

Can you imagine? Dordrecht used to look very different! Along the river Thuredrith, the town grew into the city we now call Dordrecht. A rich city, thanks to trade and its location along the river. But there was also poverty, there were floods and the plague made many people sick. If you look closely, you can still see the traces of the past in the city today.

    Light in the city
But there was also light! Thanks to the whalers of Dordrecht. They provided special flammable oil that was used to light the lanterns. The lanterns that provided light in the darkness. And this is where you meet Otis! Otis the Lanternlighter: a stubborn water creature who lit the lanterns every night. He made sure that every lamppost in town was lit, so that Dordrecht was beautifully lit at night.
