This exhibition brings queer history from Þingeyjarsýsla into the light.
It begins with Guðmundur Sigurjónsson from Mývatnssveit, the only person known to have been imprisoned in Iceland for being gay. It then traces the fight for love and rights through timelines, headlines and photographs.
In the final section, queer people from the region speak about what it means to be seen, heard and safe today.
Together, these stories lead us out of the shadows — and remind us that visibility is powerful, but can never be taken for granted.
