The life and legacy of Arthur de Sacadura Freire Cabral (1881-1924), one of the great pioneers of Portuguese aviation, are the focus of this exhibition. A Navy Officer and Pilot-Aviator, he stood out in the organization of Naval Aviation in Portugal and in the historic First South Atlantic Aerial Crossing in 1922, alongside Gago Coutinho. Using innovative navigation techniques, this journey connected Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, marking a world achievement. Sacadura Cabral’s trajectory, filled with daring missions and technical advancements, solidified Portugal’s importance in the early days of aviation on the international stage. In 2024, he was posthumously promoted to Rear Admiral, in recognition of his enduring legacy.
