This room bears witness to the continuous commitment of the foundation. Each Friday the seven governors sit around this table to decide on the activities to be carried out. The red chair marks the office and the place of the Superintendent. The Superintendent has the role of the representative of the foundation but the decision-making power resides in  the whole governing body, hence in all seven Governors. The General Secretary sits with them and keeps the minutes of their meetings, which are registered in the records of the Assembly. The historical archive of the Pio Monte preserves the proceedings from 1601, providing a complete account of four hundred years of charitable works. 

The visit to the Pio Monte della Misericordia comes to an end in this Room of the Government. We hope that the knowledge of the work carried out by the association in is four centuries of history and the tour of the art treasures that it preserves have also proved fascinating for you. We started our story with the enthusiasm of seven young Neapolitan gentlemen, farsighted and sensitive to human sufferings, and we can arrive at the conclusion that if the activities of the Pio Monte della Misericordia have continued down to the present, through wars and revolutions, famine and epidemics, earthquakes and various attempts to suppress it, this has been because the commitment of the Associates has developed under the protection of the Mother of Mercy. The foundation continues its progress, which has never been interrupted, though today its work is even more demanding than ever.
