Musée The “Venerando Bruno” Ethno-Antropological and Archaeological Museum

Welcome to the “Venerando Bruno” Museum!
I am Eleonora Amato, Director of the "Belpasso Musei" Complex and I would like to welcome you to our museum named after Venerando Bruno, our fellow citizen, a great lover of history and local traditions: Venerando, who died on January 31, 2007, dedicated his life not only to research in the area but also to the collection of many of the treasures that you can find displayed today, here, in the Museum that bears his name.
It was he who founded the first seat of the Museum in 1988, which he dedicated to Professor Giuseppe Sambataro, another distinguished scholar and a friend of Venerando’s. While the Professor devoted himself to studying the town of Belpasso, Bruno went to search for its most ancient roots, identifying sites and places of archaeological interest.
The municipal administration created this museum, inaugurated on 11 December 2016 as part of the largest project of the Belpasso Civic Museums Complex.
Our museum is divided into two sections, one ethno-anthropological and one archaeological: the experts of Belpasso Musei will tell you about our collection in person which aims to provide a complete image of the history and culture of the Belpasso area from prehistoric times to the twentieth century.
It will be up to our ethno-anthropologist Paolo Magrì to describe the works exhibited in the ethno-anthropological section. The archaeological section, which houses the remains of ancient human settlements in our lands, will be explained by our archaeologist Valeria Guarnera. Finally, Elisa Bonacini will comment on the archaeological section and in particular about the excavations conducted in Contrada Grammena!
Today, as yesterday, the purpose of our museum is to preserve the memory of our history.
Now come with us to visit the museum and its rooms and you will understand why these objects, from very distant times, are so important to us, because they are all pieces of a single puzzle!!
