The Murmansk Regional Art Museum is located in the historical center of Murmansk in the first public building made of stone on Kominterna Street.
On 19 December 1989 the first exhibition hall in Murmansk was established.
This event was dedicated to the VII zone exhibition “The Soviet North”. On 17 December 1990 the exhibition hall was transformed to the Murmansk Regional Art Museum with paintings, graphic pieces and sculptures donated by the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore.

The collection of the museum now is more than 11000 art pieces. Paintings of the 17th– 21st centuries, great collection of graphic works and pieces of arts and crafts are among them. The museum has a huge collection of Murmansk artists’ works.

Three museum departments are located in separate buildings. The main building is the historic one. The Cultural and Exhibition Centre of the Russian Museum belongs to the Art Museum and is located in the building of the Murmansk Philarmonia Hall. The department of folk arts and crafts is engaged in studying arts and crafts and managing outreach activities and also in coordination of the School of Crafts. The museum conducts exhibition, research and outreach activities. There is an informational and educational centre for people of all ages. There are many educational events for little children.

Establishment of the fine arts museum has become a significant piont in the cultural life of the Murmansk region. Today it is the only art museum in the Arctic. The Murmansk Regional Art Museum is an ultimate decoration of Murmansk.

The permanent exhibition "Domestic Fine Arts of the 17th-21st centuries" includes more than 200 art pieces and is divided into seven sections: fine art of the late 17th - 19th centuries, painting of the 1950s-1980s, painting of Leningrad school artists, a collection of paintings and graphic works by
Murmansk artists, sculptures and arts and craft pieces.

    Прекрасный,любимый музей картинами Яковлева,Харлова,Подлясского,Хуттунена,Бубенцова и ещё много,много.Сотрудники музея -молодцы,профи!!!

    Замечательный музей! Часто меняются экспозиции. Захожу раз в месяц и стабильно попадаю на новую выставку. Очень приветливый персонал.
