Welcome to the Landes, a journey between ocean, forest and tradition.

In south-western France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, there’s a territory that is both wild and welcoming: the department of Landes. Between the scent of maritime pines, the waves and the golden sand, we set off to discover the region.

It is in this unique atmosphere that we invite you to discover four gems of the Landes coastline: Labenne, Capbreton, Hossegor and Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains. These seaside resorts, all close to each other, each have their own character, atmosphere and history.

First of all we can go to the Camping site named « Les Pins Bleus » where I did my internship. Labenne is a litlle city just under Capbreton in the south. For the fan of art there’s the PARCC a contemporary art center in witch you could see some expositions or participate in workshops. To discover the culture of Labenne we should go to the beach and see the Sainte Thérèse chapel builed by Jules Bouville, former mayor of Labenne. Unfotunately we can’t go inside but the architecture from outside is interesting too. It’s really original to see a chapel on the beach.

Then we can go to Capbreton, known for his port. If you go there on the morning you’ll see the market with all the local food, the fishes from the fishermen and local specialties. A lot of people go there also for the skatepark and the streets art of it. Sometimes there’s animations and events wich attracts skateboarders from all the west-Coast. If you love history espacially about the world war 2 i advise you the bunkers on the beach called Santocha.

We will then go to the city of Hossegor just in front of Capbreton. This city is espacially known for the surf because of the good waves, there is a lot of surf school and good spots. If you go there on september you should go to the Quicksilver festival a mix of surf and skate but also rock and tecno music. At night Hossegor is the best place to get a drink, i advise you to go on the Place des landais in wich there’s a lot of bars, resstaurants and also clubs. If you wanna spend a good night with good musics I recomend you this place, espacially the bar called « Les Coolins » really crowded in summer.

To finish we will go more at the North of the coast in the village of Vieux-Boucau ! This village is a mix of a relaxing and a lively place too. In the morning you can go to the market and see the liveliness of the town. I propose to you a tour of the lake in wich you can also make some padlle in it. If you like fishing or doing sea sports you will love the beach of Vieux-Boucau. About the culture there’s the arenas in wich all the thursday a race named « Course Landaise » takes place with a fireworks at the end. If you wanna spend a good night out I advise you the restaurant « l’Odysée » specialised in seafood and for take a drink there’s a lot of bars at the central beach like the Ccaptain or the Calicobar.

To conclude the Landes offer endless ocean views, the largest pine forest in Europe, and an authentic way of life. Between surfing, nature walks, delicious gastronomy, and renowned thermal spas, this region of Southwest France combines relaxation, discovery, and conviviality.
