Salt mud spas that were often attended by the Russian Romanov family still operate even today.
Many narrow streets with gorgeous early 20th-century wooden houses lead to the sea. Haapsalu often has been called the "Venice of the Baltics". The fact that Haapsalu and the surrounding area was the centre for the Estonian Swedes till mid 20th century, gives even more cultural and architectural flavour to this amazing small town.
