The Open House concept, originally created by Victoria Thornton in 1992 in London, later giving rise to Open House Worldwide, now has a global reach and is present in 52 capitals around the world.

Maputo is the second city in Africa, after Lagos (Nigeria) to do so, which challenges us to make this a real opportunity to put African culture in the spotlight by giving it the exposure it deserves. Our city now finds its place in this family, where the celebration of architecture shares the same values for the qualification of the urban environment.

For the architectural heritage of this city, it is an honor to be part of this international network whose celebration of the urban landscape is the largest in the world. This celebration of architecture provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate the decisive role of architecture in the life of communities.

With free access to public and private spaces, visitors can enrich their cultural and architectural knowledge through the visits and the itinerary that is part of the guide.

Open House Worldwide empowers the exploration of unique spaces, once a year, for two days. An experience that allows us to get to know our own and other cities, in a meeting of culture and civilization.
