The Archeological Park of Sacsaywaman is a protected area by Peruvian state since 1982. Its main goal is the preservation and conservation of the many archeological sites around Cusco city.
The 3000 hectares of terrain is also consider as a natural reserve where native flora and fauna distribuite in three life zones and two ecological floors are protected

Between the representative flora is the andean lily, kantu, Ñucchu, llaulli, parat'ika, lloque, waranhuay,etc, and native fauna like andean goose, andean cernicalo, seagulls and hummingbirds
