In this audio guide we will take you on a discovery of the Basilica of Santa Maria Madre della Consolazione, known as the Eremo, in Reggio Calabria.
We will tell you the history of the presence of the Capuchin friars in Reggio, the origins of Marian devotion in the city and its development over the centuries.
We will tell you the story of the church's alternating destruction and reconstruction and take you inside the present building, showing you its most important works of art.

The audio guide was realised in the school year 2024-2025 by the students of classes III A and III B (Tourism address) of the Economic Technical Institute ‘Piria-Ferraris-Da Empoli’ of Reggio Calabria, as part of the PCTO ‘Open Churches: Art Tells’, by virtue of a special agreement between the School and the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova - Diocesan Museum.
The Course was coordinated by Dr. Lucia Lojacono, Director of the Diocesan Museum (external tutor).
For the School, Prof. Luciana Siviglia (PCTO tutor), Prof. Giuseppe Cannizzaro (class III AT tutor), Prof. Antonella Minniti (class III BT tutor) and Prof. Grazia Tripodi (English) followed the students' work.
