Tur audio Giuseppe Penone. Sculpture (19 March - 26 June 2016)

With Giuseppe Penone. Sculpture, the Mart is dedicating a major exhibition to Giuseppe Penone, one of the leading protagonists on the international scene. The whole exhibition at the Mart di Rovereto will focus on this practice. From 19 March to 26 June 2016, over sixty works will cover one of the main moments in the artist’s work, with particular attention to the most recent production. 

In a layout designed by Penone himself and Gianfranco Maraniello the exhibition explores the relationship between artwork and environment. 

The large exhibition spaces on the second floor are simply defined by the enclosing walls and pillars and receive light from above from the high skylights that have been finally opened. The exhibition thus connects to the environmental setting, with natural light and, ideally, to the extraordinary mountain landscape that surrounds the Mart. 

With Penone, the Mart interrogates the very idea of contemporary museum. The whole project becomes an invitation to visit the spaces in a new way, through itineraries never planned before that also include complementary spaces to the exhibition ones. At the centre of all, the experience of art.
