Hi, my name is Niels Frederik Lund, just call me Fred. I am from Denmark and live in Schiedam with my wife and son. I love living here and enjoy my walks around the town of Schiedam. I, therefore, would like to share my favorite places with you as well.

As you will see, Schiedam is a charming and historic city with canals and windmills and many other attractions within walking distance in the town center. Schiedam became a village in the year 1230 when the local river, The Schie, had a dam built on it to protect it from the sea. So it has a long history.

Did you know the city has the tallest windmills in the world; The 7 largest windmills in the world surround the city, so you can look at them and also visit some of them. Furthermore, Schiedam is the gin capital of the world, with the production of gin going back three centuries. Walk along the canals and look at all the old buildings that were used for gin production, storage, or shipping and visit the Jenever Museum that tells the whole story of when Schiedam was the world's center of gin production.

This guided audio-visual tour, with 7 stops, takes you to the main attractions of Schiedam. It is for visitors who have about half an hour to an hour in Schiedam and want to see the top attractions of Schiedam.
