О музее

The cultural Ethnographic and Environmental association Jalari welcomes you to the Park Museum Jalari, constructed over 30 years on the initiative of the families Pietrini and Giorgianni. It is now a wonderful reality of Sicily, thanks to their passion and tenacity.

The Park derives its name from the old Arab district on which it stands: Jalari means "shining stone" for which no other name seemed more appropriate to indicate that part of the purely rocky Peloritani mountains.

Stone by stone, Jalari grew from an "Idea (Belief, Theory)" that has its roots in the genesis and origins that are common to all people. Reaching us, anyone can discover his ancestral connection to the land, water, and stone, which here are combined and enhanced in symbiosis with the scent of hundreds of trees, the yellow of the broom, the sounds coming from the mill and the sena, and the tools of the artisans’ workshops, which remind us of the hard work, passion, and creativity of our fathers.

Jalari encourages each person who walks its boulevards to achieve an inner journey starting from the "Confusion boulevard" to the "Dream Boulevard", passing through various stages of thought (‘’Reflection boulevard’’, ‘’The rediscovery of values boulevard’’ , etc.).

Scattered within the Park, sculptures and fountains sculpted by Mariano Pietrini, represent the living force of the story, the characters of yesterday, of fantasy, the legends, the mythology and philosophy, all metaphors for the "way of being " of the Sicilian people.

Architectures, edited by Salvatore Pietrini, evoke foreign cultures that have dominated Sicily in the past. While the stone houses preserve the hard work of our craftsmen, and the shops are ethnographic (dedicated to the ancient crafts of Sicilians). In these you will find more than 15.000 artifacts, which convey the passion and hard work of the master craftsmen who once used them.

In every shop we intended to highlight, not so much the tools (which are all original) …. but the craftsmen who used them. And it is for this reason that all the signs in the park are devoted to the man and not his art (" reading “u sattu ", "u firraru", "u spiritaru " ... etc) and it is for this reason also that for the creation of each workshop, the collaboration of a true craftsman was an integral part of the process. They placed each object in the same place where they used to in their old workshop, creating the illusion that each piece can relive back and beat to the rhythm of an art that has now disappeared.
