Audio tour Back of Skiddaw- Short MTB

This tour takes you on an adventure around the back of Skiddaw.

Leaving  E-Venture bikes take the left turn at the mini roundabout, follow road adjacent to the river and turn right towards Keswick Hospital, after the hospital turn right onto Brundholme Rd.

Take the track on your left called Spooney Green Lane. Continue to follow the track upwards past a gate keep bearing left ignoring any traks to the right. you will pass another gate and continue to Latrigg car park.

From the car park take the farm track towards Wescoe and Threlkeld. At the end of the track there will be another gate, go through this gate and continue the decent down a short but steep tarmac road the road will then climb back up to Wescoe and continue along the road until you reach Threlkeld.

Just after the village hall / Cafe turn left up Blease Rd. Keep climbing to the top of this road past the Blencathra centre  and continue through the car park. follow the bridleway path that skirts around blease fell. you will pass by a small waterfall and there will be a few fords to cross over. After the last ford you will turn right on the path to wards Skiddaw House YHA. 

From the YHA follow the path leading North West from the YHA, there will be a couple of fords to negotiate There will be one last short climb before the track decends past white water dash waterfalls. TAKE CAUTION on the switchbacks at the top of the waterfalls. The path will finish at Peter House Farm. 

turn left at the end of the path. the next section will be on tarmac.

Follow the road until it joins with the A591. Turn left onto the A591 continue until you reach Mire House, turn left into the car park. Go beyond the toilets and cafe and take the path on the right you will climb up a short distance where you will join a fire road, follow it to the right where you will decend a couple of hairpin bends and rejoin the A591. follow the A591 to Millbeck and Applethwaite take the turning on your left.
