All Saints is a Norman church which was mostly rebuilt in the 14th century with a lovely wooden porch. The chancel remains in parish use for worship but the nave, tower and south porch are in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust since 1975. The light interior contains a number of medieval treasures including wall paintings of Nativity scenes and an early 14th century effigy of a lady wearing a wimple.
Newton known as Newton Green is situated 3 miles east of Sudbury in Suffolk. Recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086 as 'Niwetuna' which is an Anglo Saxon place name for a new settlement. The village green was converted to a 9 hole common land golf course in 1907 and is one of the oldest golf clubs in Suffolk.
