Normandy like much of Europe had been occupied by German forces for four years. The drama of the freeing of Normandy makes for a fascinating few days for the history buff – and ordinary tourists too.

If you want to take this tour, it's better to park your car near point 3 and walk to the beginning. point 1 and 2 are better visited by foot, as #2 is located in a pedestrian area.
