Paraty, a natural and cultural paradise, encompasses a large portion of the remaining Atlantic Forest and depicts important episodes of Brazilian history and culture.
It represents one of the main touristic places in Brazil. Rich and diverse in Cultural and Natural Heritage.
On the cultural perspective there are important practices to be found in the city’s tissue and daily life… Tangible and intangible heritage are explored and presented on great deal of diversity and representativeness.
Many interpretational lines could arise from the architecture of the city alone – from its aesthetical and practical precision to how it reflects certain degrees of inequality and social struggles of past and present times.
Also, out of many Intangible Cultural Heritage manifestations present in the costumes of the community, Paraty houses the festival FLIP (Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty) - the most important international literature festival in Brazil.
Paraty stands on the Atlantic Forest, thus provided with great deal of natural heritage as well.
The islands and bays that compose the region and the penetrating environment, characterized by the combination of mountain and sea, pictures flourishing bright green tones on the eyes of every spectator.
