Intro
When our Meetinghouse was expanded in 1960-1962, Rev. Dr. Vincent Daniels took the opportunity to use his background as a medieval history professor at Marietta College to design the new windows to educate us. He and the design committee made our stained glass windows a marvel. They are not Bible stories or geometrical shapes as in other churches, but they depict the evolving forces and influences that made our church what it is today. They are so chock full of meaning that they have history professor written all over them!
Historically, both sides of the Nave go from the front to the back of the church. The five windows on the left side of the Nave tells of influential saints, the important people of the Reformation in Europe, the Pilgrims coming to America, the joining of Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Church into the United Church of Christ (UCC), and the missionary movement.
The four windows on the right side, in the Chapel, tell the story of the forming of our church in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.
