IMAGE: On the far left panel, a horizontal, rectangular, color image of the Mill appears under the text “Colvin Run Mill Historic Site”. The Mill is pictured from the back, rising from the bottom of the frame. The peak of the wooden-shingled roof is cut off by the top of the frame. The Mill is constructed of light red bricks, with a grey and brown fieldstone base visible where the wall of the building gives way to the wall of the tail race. The brickwork is periodically disrupted by brick-sized dark holes. Five windows with dusty red windowsills mark the back wall of the Mill. The bottom sash of each window has 12 panes, while the upper has 16 panes. The top three windows nestle equidistantly apart under the eaves, which are painted the same red as the window trim. On the floor below, two windows provide light. The one on the right sits directly below its top floor counterpart. The second is offset from the window above it to the left by a few feet. On the left side of the Mill stands the waterwheel and flume, partially obscuring a small red door half-way up the 3-story wall. The waterwheel is 20 feet tall and rises from the tailrace to the bottoms of the lower windows. Made of a pale golden wood, the waterwheel and flume stand out brightly from the red brick of the Mill. The axle of the waterwheel extends from the side of the Mill to rest on a platform of fieldstone. Seven spokes are visible, connecting the axle to the wider wheel. The flume extends over the top of the waterwheel. Shaped like a long, rectangular box, the flume rests on a series of trestles with X-shaped supports. The side of the Mill is also visible. A three by three square of windows cover the top three-quarters of the Mill. The top row is set in the soffit, or the wooden paneling between the top of the brick wall and the peak of the roof. On the ground floor, two windows placed at different heights admit light. Further down, a door allows admission to the ground floor of the Mill. Behind the Mill, bear branches of winter trees criss-cross the pale blue sky.
