The residents of Kampong Ayer have seen many changes throughout the centuries. From settlements blossoming by riverbanks to residents moving further inland and being a trading hub for international traders to being a quiet residential area. Handcrafting skills have further developed through modernization including the art of weaving and boat repairs and maintenance to name a few.

In this gallery, old items used in daily lives such as tools for personal maintenance and storage items are displayed in their original crafted forms.
