The tour proposes a selection of twenty must-see masterpieces among the many on display at the Uffizi. You will find the names of the artists that set the fundamental milestones of the history of European art, from Giotto, Masaccio to Botticelli, all the way to Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian: not a simple visit, therefore, but an immersion in European culture!
A personality you have already heard about will accompany you along part of the visit: he is Giorgio Vasari, a versatile artist, architect, town planner, painter and cultural organizer. He was a favorite of Cosimo I, who had always entrusted him the most important and demanding enterprises. His name will recur frequently during the explanation of the works: Vasari was also a writer and his book “The Lives of the Artists” was the first essential biography of the major artists from Cimabue to Michelangelo to be published. Much of the information herein, the dates and anecdotes, were drawn from this precious source.
As you walk around, the view of the city will present itself from ever changing points of observation through the windows, which used to be part of an open loggia.
