This tour covers the 8 months when they lived in Farmington, sometimes traveled to Abolitionist meetings through New England raising awareness of the inhumanity of slavery, and raising funds for their return to Sierra Leone.
This tour puts their time in Farmington within the greater context of the events preceding their stay and their significance in the US abolishing slavery following the Civil War about 20 years later.
By touring these landmarks in Farmington, visitors can get a glimpse of the abolitionists and Mendi Africans as real people leading genuine lives rather than just dry historical figures.
