音频游览 Nicolay GALAKHOV

Nicolay Galakhov (1928) – Honored Painter of Russia, who started its artistic way right in the postwar times. He is a master of Russian landscapes – educated in the manner of I.Grabar and I.Levitan, he reconsidered its artistic heritage according to the principles of the Leningrad painting school. His paintings are sustained in the strict, almost classical tradition of Russian landscape painting

In 1954-1956 Galakhov engaged in postgraduate study at the Repin Institute of Arts (art studio of R.Frentz). Since 1951 Galakhov had participated in Art Exhibitions, mostly in landscape and genre paintings.He graduated the Repin Institute, he traveled a lot over our country and created the expressive landscapes of Baykal, Siberia, Caucasus and Volga river. In 1955 for a series landscapes of the Volga he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. From 1960s' Galakhov constantly visits Karelia – a favorite place for his inspiration. He spent great while in the small town Kem, where he painted hundreds of sketches – to apply them afterwards for its monumental artworks.

In 1984 Nikolay Galakhov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Russian Federation. His paintings reside in State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, in the lot of Art museums and private collections in Russia, China, England, in the U.S, Japan, and in other countries.
