Deventer and cake are inextricably linked. The oldest mention of the baking of Deventer honey cake dates back to 1417. Strict rules were enforced on the composition of the cake and the professional competence of the bakers.
In this walk you will get a picture of Deventer as a Cake City. You will also see wall advertisements and other expressions of trade, industry, middle class and industrial heritage in the historic centre.
You start at the Penninckshuis, where the VVV is located, at Brink 89 and end at the Deventer Cake Shop. The walk is about 2.3 km long and takes about 1.5 hours.
