About the museum
The National Education Museum was founded in 1981 and is the "successor" of the School Museum in Amsterdam, which was opened in 1877. The museum has since grown into a renowned national knowledge institute with an extensive collection in the field of education. In total, the museum manages more than 350,000 objects that have something to do with education in one way or another. This makes the National Education Museum the largest educational museum in the world.
