About the museum

The Museum of Nature (Naturmuseum Südtirol) is the only nature museum in the Province of Bozen/Bolzano, and is therefore the centre for collecting and documenting the region's natural history. Among the 11 Provincial Museums, the museum is now also responsible for running the Planetarium South Tyrol. Since 1997, the museum has been located in the former seat of land and customs duties of Maximilian I of Habsburg in the historic centre of Bozen. The permanent exhibition illustrates the genesis and characteristics of the region's unique and spectacular landscape and its natural environments. With its rich calendar of events, activities and temporary exhibitions, the museum attracts visitors of all ages.
