About the museum

The Monmouth County Historical Association was established in 1898 for the purpose of collecting, interpreting and preserving Monmouth County history. Now in our 125th year, we have amassed one of the finest regional collection in the United States, with over 35,000 objects and hundreds of thousands of archival documents. We own and interpret four historic houses throughout the county, and interpret the historic Holmes-Hendrickson house in Holmdel. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and rely on the generosity of our patrons and donors to maintain this incredible collection and make Monmouth County history free to the public through world-class exhibitions and educational programming.
