The MdLH brings us closer to the stories and ways of life of the people from L’Hospitalet through innovative and participatory experiences around their heritage, their memory and their hopes. Visit the museum to discover the city’s facilities with the most history, the most heritage and the most memory of Hospitalet!

The history of the Hospitalet Museum has two dates of birth engraved on the entrance of its first building: 1969 and 1972. Do you know why? In 1969, various initiatives were launched to begin the restoration of a space to preserve and make visible the city’s important heritage collection and a privileged collection of contemporary art. In 1972, the museum was officially inaugurated in Casa España.

Today, the museum is an institution at the service of society, open to the local and non-local public, which gathers, preserves, documents, studies and exhibits the cultural and material heritage of the city, promoting research and study. It is a place to enjoy the city's treasures and learn about its past, present and future projects.

At the same time, it is a space for the cultural, leisure and scientific participation of the associations and the citizens of L'Hospitalet, which plays a key role in the history of the Museum and must play a role in building a future based on awareness of a collective urban identity.

The Museu de l’Hospitalet is registered in the Register of Museums of Catalonia under number 77 (R 17-1-1996 / DOGC 29-1-1996). It is a municipal facility dependent on the Culture Service of Hospitalet City Council and belongs to the Network of Local Museums of the Diputació de Barcelona and the Network of Museums of History and Monuments of Catalonia.
