Audio tour Summary
The Anello del Barbet path runs along the borders of the town of Baldissero d’Alba (Cn) with the neighboring territories of Sommariva Perno and Montaldo Roero.
TECHNICAL DATA:
Length: 7 km
Duration: 3 h
Altitude: 250 m
Difficulty: E (Hiker)The trail is NOT recommended by mountain bike due to the very technical route.
AUDIOGUIDE UNDER CONSTRUCTION: AT THE MOMENT ONLY THE GPX TRACK IS PRESENT TO TRAVEL THE PATH WITH THE GEOLOCALIZED MAP.
It is a ring that winds in part in the ancient summit forest called in Roman times "silva popularis" (from populus, poplar), it also crosses wooded areas on the bottom of the Rocche, giving the possibility to know even the wettest environment of the undergrowth.
Part of the route winds along the ancient Roman and medieval road that descended from the plateau to Canale, skirting the ancient town of Baldissero d'Alba, of which the Romanesque apse of the parish church of Sant'Antonino still bears witness today.
Along the ring you can see the different types of Roero woods characterized by the presence of oaks, poplars, chestnuts, Scots pines as well as vineyards and hazelnut groves typical of the cultivated areas; in spring you can witness the flowering of asphodels and periwinkles.
The name of the path refers to the way in which the inhabitants of Baldissero were called: the Barbet. The dialect term indicates the beard or rather, the goatee: in ancient times in the village there was a Waldensian community whose exponents wore beards. From that period on, the nickname was handed down to all the inhabitants of the country also to underline the libertarian nature that has characterized some episodes of the more recent past.ITINERARY
The Anello del Barbet itinerary starts from the center of Baldissero d'Alba, in Piazza Martiri, where you can park your car. From here take via Cuneo and then cross the provincial road towards Biancosaldo and S1.
Continue on the S1 along the summit panorama of the viewpoint on the Rocche and then turn left towards Località Aprato on the Ruspas path.
In this section, the route crosses the forest at the top characterized by the presence of chestnut trees and Scots pines and then descends towards the bottom of the rocks along the woods of Acacias and poplars.
At the bottom of the descent, turn left and then continue always left towards Goretta and go up towards the town of Baldissero on the asphalted municipal road.
Upon reaching the cemetery, take the dirt road towards the Romanesque apse of Sant’Antonino which can be reached at the end of a gentle descent that runs alongside the oldest vineyards in the town.
After passing the ancient parish church, continue straight until you turn left towards the path of the "Segrete". We are traveling along the ancient road towards Canale.
When you reach the bottom of the descent, continue turning right and then turn left towards the path of the "Segrete".
Take the road on the plain following the course of the river, crossing the steps of the Alpini di Montaldo Roero. Continue straight and then go up the path of the "Segrete", so called because on this side of the hill there was an underground exit of the castle of Baldissero, used for escape in the event of a siege.
When you reach the top of the path, you meet the Costabella dirt road, continue to the right towards the Castle and the center of Baldissero d’alba. Once you reach the piazza in Pian del Forno you will find the gate of the ancient stables of the manor, which have now become the municipal nursery school. From here continue to the right to return to Piazza Martiri. - 1 Hazelnuts

Un bel percorso sia per i contesti ambientali che per l'aspetto paesaggistico. Molto bella la rimanente abside di S. Antonino e la sua collocazione.
