Engels Kozlov (1926-2007) is a distinctive representative of the realistic artists generation: his artworks are so factual that seem to be a chronological feature story of the epoch. His paintings are incarnation of Russian history, depicted in the faces and landscapes.

First he studied in the art school of Syktyvkar. Then the entered the Art College in Yaroslavl, and after few year came to the Tavricheskaya Art School in Leningrad. In 1059 he became a student of the Repin’s Academy of Arts, in 1956 he graduated it with honours , in the art studio of Jury Neprintzev. E.Kozlov worked in the Art Studio under the guidance of V.Oreshnikov from 1961 to ’63.

His painting way is related to the "severe style" - laconism, firmness, composite accuracy, colour saturation are the attributes of the pattern that he choose in the art.
