About the museum
A Walk along Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street is a permanent exhibition opened on May 1998. It is situated in Peter the Great’s House, which is an architectural monument of the late 17th century.
The exhibition was created on the basis of a valuable and significant museum object of 1910 – The Guidebook on Polotsk. The Guidebook was published in Polotsk on the occasion of transferring relics of St. Euphrosyne from Kiev to Polotsk. It’s the first and one of a kind exhibition in Belarus that is dedicated to the history of a single street at a certain point of time (1910).
The exhibition tells about the history of Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street, about the people who lived on it, about buildings and establishments that were situated there in the early 20th century.
